Spring snowstorm hits Northern NY, New England

4/27/2010 Jay Yunker | Category: Industry News | 423 Views | 0 Comments |

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - A late-season storm is expected to dump up to a foot of snow across the hills and mountains of northern New York and Vermont before moving east into the rest of northern New England.

The National Weather Service says the snow falling across the Adirondacks and the St. Lawrence and Champlain valleys will be heavy and wet and could cause power outages. Higher altitudes are expected to see the most accumulation, with a foot or more by midday Wednesday at ski resorts and other places above 2,000 feet.

Chief meteorologist Andy Nash in Burlington, Vt., says Tuesday the snow will range from slushy accumulations in the valley floors to 5 or 6 inches at 500 feet and more at higher elevations. Winter storm warnings have been issued for northern parts of New Hampshire and Maine.
